Bibi Jot

Notes · account

I wasn’t making an account at 2 a.m.

4 September 2026

Every baby app I tried wanted an email before the first bottle. I stood in the kitchen, kettle screaming, and closed two of them. I did not have a relationship with their cloud. I had a relationship with a hungry person who does not care about onboarding.

Bibi Jot lets you log without an account. Sleepy window, reminders, the clinic page — those are local. Sign-in is for encrypted backup, family sync, restoring on a new phone. I read that on the site and still didn’t believe it until I used it for a week with no login wall. Old scar.

What stays on the phone

The log is encrypted on the device. Photos stay on the device. That matched how paranoid I already was, which is a sentence I didn’t expect to like.

I signed in later, on a Sunday, in daylight, like a person. Magic link. Not because the app nagged me through a feed. Because I dropped the phone on tile and heard a sound I didn’t like. Backup is for the sound you don’t like.

PIN is a screen lock. It is not the backup. I confused those for a day. Forgetting a PIN is annoying. Losing a phone without a cloud copy is a different category of annoying.

Family

If someone else is also logging, you’ll want the shared thing, which means accounts. That can wait until you’ve slept. It should wait. Night one is not the time to negotiate who owns the email.

The sign-in policy is short. I wish more products would admit that logging and identity are different jobs.

This is a care-log note, not medical advice. Sleepy-window times are estimates. If something feels off, call your clinic.
